Canned food drive kicks off season of giving

| Elizabeth Dankert

The DC Ranch Gives program is getting an early start of making the holidays a little merrier for Valley families.

Cans and nonperishable food items can be dropped off at Desert Camp Community Center, The Homestead Community Center, or at The Ranch Offices on Market Street starting Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Nov. 17. Help DC Ranch reach the goal of 1,000 cans of food!

Your kind donations will be given to United Food Bank to provide Thanksgiving dinner for families in need. Every can of food goes towards local families in Arizona.

Arizona currently ranks third in the country for high child food insecurity rates, behind only New Mexico and Mississippi, with 456,760 children facing hunger on a daily basis.

You can also bring donations to the DC Ranch Turkey Trot on Nov. 18. Participate in the 5k run or 1-mile walk then stick around for a light breakfast afterward.
