Community Garden

The DC Ranch Community Garden at Copper Ridge School is a place to continue the legacy of community building for future generations of residents and students.

The design reflects traditional farm and garden aesthetics and provides optimal opportunities for gardeners. The Garden is devoted to sustainable organic practices.

Awakening The Community Garden

The DC Ranch Community Garden at Copper Ridge School partners with Agave Farms to provide residents of all ages a fun, easy way to participate in the community garden.

“Our goal is to immerse residents in a true hands-on garden experience,” said Dan Nowell, affectionately known as ‘Farmer Dan.’

Residents can sign up to be a part of a seasonal gardening experience to become a “garden hand” –working together and sharing in the harvest. Garden hands will get the first opportunity at the seasonal harvest; any excess produce, herbs and other edibles will be donated to local food banks.

Farmer Dan will show residents how to grow, nurture, and harvest a garden, he will also bring in local experts for Garden Workshops on everything from beekeeping to seed science.

Each “season” consists of a four-month commitment:

  • Spring = January through April
  • Fall = September through December

A minimum of two hours per month per household is required. Once residents sign up, volunteer hours are coordinated with Farmer Dan. The available days and hours are:

  • Thursdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The cost to participate is $60 per household, per season. Children, ages 14 and older, must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Must be logged in to register.

The Community Garden is located on the northwest side of Copper Ridge School, adjacent to the ball fields. {map}
